online questionnaire (surveymonkey.com, google.com, SPSS)

as usual, every week we were assigned to do new assignment. for this week, we were needed to make a  survey  based on the journal that we've done in the previous assignment which entitled 'Windows vs. Ubuntu'.
based on that journal, we were required to make 10 survey questions by using surveymonkey https://www.surveymonkey.com/MyAccount_Join.aspx
to be answered by our own classmates. and then make another survey by using google doc in spreadsheet form either from the same questions used in the  surveymonkey or different questions. the survey made by using google doc can be printed. instead of making 10 copies of printed survey and distribute it to other students as stated in the question task, we chose to send it to our friends in IPGKS

credits to survey monkey, i experienced the first time of making survey on my own.

After all the hard works we finally reached at the final step when we managed to get at least 20 respondents for the survey. Alhamdulillah !
well i have to admit that to get even at least 10 respondents is such a hard works. we have to remind them, over and over again to answer our survey question.
we make use our Facebook account to 'promote' our survey and we did emailed them about the survey.
we were almost give up waiting for the responds. everybody seems to be so busy creating theirs and what is so 'weird' or confusing i might said is when all of my friends said they had done answering our survey when only 15 of respondents are 'visible'. there should be 18 respondents altogether. so where is another 3 respondents ?!
maybe there is some technical mistakes or miscommunication here and there. they maybe thought that they have answered our survey when they actually answered from the survey monkey.
the one that matter is from the google doc. the data collected from google doc is the one that will be used in the SPSS thingy. so there's some confusion and both of us do really understand that.

me and my partner; wan nazira are both agreed that, this one assignment which is the survey to be specific is the most exciting part of this course ! to be honest, this is my first time experience of making my own assignment.
knowing that there is a website where we can actually make our own survey question, i wish i could make my own mini research one day. =))

after gathering all the data, we're now in the final step.
this is where we start to use SPSS that we have installed before.
Mr Tengku Norazlan briefly explained to us how to use it. it is quite interesting actually.
so after filling in the data in the SPSS, we were needed to make report based on our mini research.
as a conclusion, i gained a lot of new experience this time with the surveymonkey.com, google.doc spreadsheet and SPSS. i am not an IT savvy but after completing this course, i wish i managed to apply all the knowledge i have gained during completing this course in the future.

till then, buhbye

plan, search and evaluate (literature review)

on this third week class, we were needed to write a journal based on the topic that we have chosen in assignment 1.
again, this a pair work.
as usual, i with my loyal partner, Wan Nazira have to really struggle for this very week.
we're quite lagging behind compare to others.
so what we planned was to really make use of time especially today, to be able to finish this one assignment  by today ! ................... or maybe tomorrow. IngsyaAllah.
 or maybe next  tettttttt !!!

back to the topic,
the journal must be related with the first topic that we had done in our first assignment which is Operating System (OS)
what we need to do is to select ;
-2 journal articles from UKM subcription research database.
-one article from google scholar
-one from books.google.com

and then, identify a research problem based on the topic we had done in our first assignment; Operating System to be exact.
our research problem is 'is it true that Windows is the best Operating System?'
we had done some comparison between Ubuntu and Windows.
next, by using OpenOffice Writer, write a report on what should be done in Malaysia.
last but not least, juz like what we've done in the previous assignment, upload the files into our yahoogroup.

feel free to visit our yahoogroup !

CLOSURE

thousands of thanks to Dr. Siti Fatimah Mohd Yassin for providing us links for online materials and for better understanding of the assignment. thank you !

REFLECTION

loads of things I've learnt in the process of completing this assignment.
I just knew that there are actually Operating System that can be downloaded from internet for FREE !
shame on you, nini.
meaning to say here, my discussion in the first assignment is not good enough. i need to dig deeper. i mean really deeeeeeeep......... --'
the free open source Operating System I've mentioned earlier refers to Ubuntu.
frankly speaking, the first time I hear the name, I felt like laughing out loud because it sounds super funny for me.
In malay, 'buntu' means a condition where a person has no idea of what she's been thinking of.
(the sentence goes something like this : "fikiran ku buntu memikirkan apa yang diperkatakan olehnya", more likely to "I have no idea what she's talking about")
so when Mr Kulan said Ubuntu, I was like "Ubuntu? Ibuntu jugak" because I have no idea what he was saying ! HAHAHAHA.
oke back to the topic. Ubuntu is actually the term which comes from South African. It is actually means I AM BECAUSE YOU ARE. The term is actually an ethic or humanist philosophy used in African. It has something to do with the movie we watched in previous semester; HOTEL RWANDA. you can just click this link for more information on that
the Ubuntu that is suppose to be explained here is; an Operating system.
Ubuntu is a free open source operating system. loads of sources I found in the internet saying that it is faar better than Windows. research has shown that;
It works faster than Windows.
easier than Windows.
and the most important thing is,
it is secure !
we don't have to be worried thinking about the malware and viruses invading our computer system. Ubuntu has a built-in security system that promises us a protected computer system, free from viruses !
so after all the readings we've collected, we have done with our report on Windows vs. Ubuntu.
do read to gain more information on Ubuntu. you may want to know what are the weaknesses of your existing Operating System especially Windows

till then, buhbye !

course / learning management system

This week, we have to study the (what, why, who, where and how) is course / learning management system. As usual, I with my partner Wan Nazira had been struggle really hard to study about this topic. In the beginning, we were quite blurred and have no idea what does learning management system really is. It was the first time I’ve heard about it. Zira then found this particular article which gives a deep explanation on course / learning management system. So we went through the article and try to get in-depth understanding about it. Unfortunately, I still didn’t understand what does course / learning management system is. With the formal language and sophisticated technologically terms used in the article, it’s quite challenging to really understand about it. I need an informal way of explanation so what I did was, asking one of my friends; Suraj, to explain it to me. Thank God, Alhamdulillah… At last, I finally understand what is Course / Learning management system is.

WHAT is C/LMS ?

-          C / LMS is an application software usually used by learning institutions that enables the administration to manage and deliver the learning content to the students. This system usually involves a large scale of learner across the world.

WHY use C/LMS ?

-          Many of the learning institutions nowadays used this system to manage their long distance students. This is because; C/LMS can enhance the communication between educators and students. Other than that, with the variety of sources loaded in the site, students will be able prepare themselves before the class start as well as for the examination. Next, C/LMS helps faculty to keep up with the technology and keeps students interested.

WHERE can we use C/LMS ?

-          User can use this system anywhere as long as there is an internet connection to be able to open the site.

WHO uses C/LMS ?

-          This system not only use by learning institution but by the government, prevention agencies, healthcare, automotive, transportations, financial services and also small enterprise.

HOW to use C/LMS ?

-          First of all, go to the Module Manager where there is a new module waiting for the content.
-          Use abbreviation for example; CI - a Content Item. An item in which can be categorised and moved. DCI - a Discrete Content Item. An item that cannot be reused, and MCI - a Module Content Item in which content locked within a module.
-          To make it organized and systematic, create sections and categories. For example, when you have created a section, create categories under that section.

REFLECTION

-          There are a lot of things I have learnt from this assignment. Before this I haven’t heard about it. Now that I know how important this kind of assignment to students or teachers-to-be especially, to expose them to the facilities provided to them in managing school environment later on. Frankly speaking, Computer in Education has really taught me to learn how to manage and use time effectively. If we don’t take the course serious, we will be left behind and we’re the one who’s going to face the consequences. Again, the wireless connection in the campus becomes the issue. Good thing is, I have bought MAXIS broadband! Wifi shouldn’t be the issue no more. IngsyAllah

OPERATING SYSTEM (OS)

Assalamualaikum and a good day to all ~
what a hectic week ! loads of works to be done in such a short period of time. with the wireless connection here, pfftt, i guess i need to buy a broadband. maxis probably.
(this is so out of the topic)
oke. back to the topic.

In the second week lecture, there are 10 topics listed to be chosen and i with my partner Wan Nazira, chose topic number 5; operating system (OS).

WHAT IS OPERATING SYSTEM ?
operating system is a software that enables the computer hardware to communicate and operate with the computer software (for example, having a disk drive allows the applications / installers of a CD to be installed) without a computer operating system, a computer and software programs would be useless, regardless how sophisticated and moder the computer is.
In some other resources that i have found, operating system is said to act as an intermediary between application program and the computer hardware. it is found not only in the computer, but also in any device that contain a computer such as smartphones !

one of the example of POPULAR operating system is Microsoft Windows.

here is the link to our discussion on Facebook about this topic.
http://www.facebook.com/#!/groups/187308057994337?view=doc&id=190804010978075
hope u enjoy it !

reflection.
learning Computer in Education wasn't easy as easy as i expected before.
the topic itself is a bit difficult for me as im not an IT savvy. Trust me, before this i wouldn't need to open my laptop and go online to see the updates from from friends in Facebook for example, not because i don't want to but i have no interest in doing so. but then, since the use of Facebook had change not only for entertainment purposes but also for EDUCATIONAL purposes, well, i guess i need to change it now. or else i will left far behind.
as previously mentioned above, we have chose Operating System (OS) as the topic to be studied for this week. back in 40s, the computers were built to perform a single task, such as calculator. at that time, OS did not exist and many electrical digital devices are meant to do only a single task. when OS had developed in 1960s, now the computers can run multiple of applications at the same time ! like what you are doing right now; you might listening to the music from youtube and at the same time, reading my blog. you may want to open Microsoft office words to complete your assignment and the best part is you don't even have to close other programs you opened before !

till then, buhbye.

introduction to computer in education

5th july of 2011 was the first class of the subject Computer in Education.
It was tought by our beloved lecturer, Mr. Tengku Azlan Bin Tengku Sulaiman.
The class started off with the introduction of the three newcomers from IPG KB to Mr. Tg. Azlan.
Mr. Tg Azlan, he without further ado, jump into the syllabus and tell us a basic overview of the subject.
WE were quite shocked when on that very first day of the class, he already gave us an assignment to be finished by Thursday !

luckily, the task given was sort of a piece of cake i might say HAHA
stated below is the summary of the task given :-

1.create a yahoo! and gmail account
- this one is quite simple
- just google 'yahoo!' and then click on the button 'new user'
- follow closely the steps given
- done ! isn't it as easy as ABC ?

2.register officcial facebook account AND create a facebook group by using our own name
- I believed everyone knows how to make a facebook account. need i say more ?

3.join a yahoogroup and then create our own group by using yahoo! id created in the first question above
- well. it is a new thing for me. i don't even know how does its functions ! even now --'
- again, google 'yahoogroup'
- make sure that you have your yahoo! account first
- sign in and then join your desired group
- once you have joined the group, go to your profile and find 'start you group' CLICK !
- follow the steps closely. easy.

4.create blog (using gmail account) anndd, post entry about the summary of what we've learnt in each class everyday.
- the same technique ! google 'blogspot'

- 'create blog. it's free. GET STARTED' see that orange button ? click on it.
- go to setting, click on the 'publishing' and change your username to your favorite name

5.put your name, course you're taking, university and url of the blog, yahoogroup and facebook account in
now you have FACEBOOK, YAHOOGROUP and BLOG.
- go to your yahoo! or gmail account. set your email options and then edit email signature. click 'enabled'
- copy all the url(s) and paste it on it. don't forget to put down your name, course and university first.
- annddd finished !

and that is why this blog is created -just for the education purposes ONLY. you might found any useful informations here as i will be always updating notes for all of us.
even though the tasks given was a bit simple for me, but I'm pretty sure that all of us were enjoying it. now we have realized that, being a teacher is not an easy job. being a teacher doesn't means that we only teach what stated in the syllabus. we have to always be in a good image as we're the role model for the new generations. keep yourself in trend with technology, fashion, and current news. be knowledgeable. use your Facebook or social network to socialize with your student and see what they're up to. correct them if they're wrong. build a healthy bond between them. teachers, you're their parents. be responsible to your kids.

till then, buhbye
